Our early learning centre in Charnwood is convenient for families located in and around Charnwood, Macgregor, Flynn, and Latham.
We welcome children from 6 weeks to school age into our childcare and preschool programs. In our purpose-built indoor and outdoor learning environments, qualified teachers and educators deliver Edge’s bespoke Teach A Rainbow program, personalised to your child’s interests and individual learning goals. Children learn through play with engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences that are aligned to the national curriculum.
We offer year-round care with long day care hours to suit busy family schedules, and our preschool program is government-approved for your peace of mind.
Our qualified team is highly experienced in early learning and builds strong, trusting relationships with children and families to support a confident start to school. Children from our centre will often go on to attend Charnwood-Dunlop School or St. Thomas Aquinas Primary School.

The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) can cover up to 95% of your daily child care costs, depending on your family’s eligibility. From January 2026, eligible families can receive a minimum 3-days of subsidised care.

Our three-year-old and four-year-old Preschool programs are delivered by our qualified Early Childhood Teachers and experienced educators to build school-ready skills including early literacy, numeracy, independence, self-help skills, emotional regulation, and social skills.

You can set your child up for a smooth start to school in our long daycare centre, which means your child benefits from year-round care with longer hours to suit your family’s schedule.
Families in our 3-year-old Preschool program will also benefit from up to 300 hours per year of free Preschool, funded by the ACT Government. This means 6 hours per week free Preschool, across 50 weeks per year. This subsidy is in addition to any Childcare Subsidy (CCS) your family is eligible for, to further reduce your daily out of pocket cost for Preschool.
*The 3-year-old Preschool subsidy totals 300 hours of subsidised Preschool per year.
Our exclusive education program is personalised to each child’s interests and stage of development. At our Charnwood daycare and preschool, we’re guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and our play-based and inquiry-led learning experiences span 11 Key Learning Areas: STEM; creative arts, music and drama; fundamental movement and fine motor skills; sensory learning; social and emotional life-skill building, health, and wellbeing; community, sustainability and culture; Indigenous perspectives; literacy, language and numeracy.

This gives you an opportunity to meet our educators, explore our nurturing environment, and understand how we can provide an experience that is best suited to your child. After your tour, you’ll receive an enrolment form to secure a spot or join the waitlist.
A: Whether your child is starting soon or at a later date, we’re here to help. Our Family Engagement Team can let you know what places are available in each classroom. If there isn’t a spot available when you need it, we can add your child to our waitlist.

Applying for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is easy, but it’s a good idea to apply early so you’re ready for your child’s first day at Edge Charnwood. Follow these steps to apply for the CCS:
Once this is lodged, Edge Early Learning, will input your enrolment details and lodge your application for you to get it fully processed. The Government will then notify you to confirm your subsidy eligibility and entitlement (how much they will subsidise off your childcare cost). A: You can use our easy Childcare Subsidy Calculator to get an estimate of your out-of-pocket fees for our centre. Simply input your details, and the calculator will provide an indication of your potential subsidy and fees.

At Edge Early Learning, our Preschool program runs year-round with extended hours to meet your family’s needs. A: At Edge Early Learning Charnwood Early Learning, we aim to make life as easy as possible for you, so we supply most of the necessities including sustainable nappies, wipes, sunscreen, bedding, and nutritious meals (breakfast through to a late snack) to ensure your child is well-cared for throughout the day. However, there are a few items that you will need to bring to ensure your child has everything they need:
A: We’re conveniently located on Lhotsky Street, next door to St. Thomas Aquinas Primary School and only a 3 minute drive to Charnwood-Dunlop School. Plus, we offer on-site parking for added ease and accessibility.
A: Yes! Your child will enjoy fresh, nutritious meals prepared daily by our on-site cook. Designed with growing bodies in mind, our menus are designed to be age-appropriate and support healthy growth and development. Featuring a variety of whole foods and culturally inspired dishes, meals can be tailored to suit individual tastes, dietary needs, and allergy requirements — ensuring every child receives nourishing meals each day.
A: At our Charnwood day care and Preschool, our children enjoy monthly visits from a First Nations musician, dancer and artist from Wiradjuri Echoes, which enriches our program with cultural learning and storytelling.

A: At our Charnwood early learning centre, the safety and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority. We provide a secure, nurturing long daycare environment where children can explore, learn, and grow with confidence. Our team is committed to protecting children through consistent daily practices, evidence-based programs, and strict adherence to national child safety standards and Edge child safeguarding policy and procedure.
We work closely with child safety organisations such as Life Ed and Bravehearts to strengthen personal safety education within our program including body boundaries, emotions and social awareness.
At Edge, your child’s safety and wellbeing is more than just a policy, it’s part of everything we do. Our S.A.F.E. framework (Spot, Act, Fix, Explain) empowers educators to speak up if they see or suspect something isn’t right, fostering a culture of accountability and vigilance. Our Active Supervision policy supports staff to plan, position, look, and listen to ensure all children are continuously supported and monitored in a safe learning environment. In addition, all supervisory and senior staff complete ongoing Child Protection and Mandatory Reporting training to stay up to date on best practices.
