The best start for your career in Early Childhood Education

Early Childhood Education can be a very rewarding career path. You are given the opportunity to make an impact on the lives of young children and overcome daily challenges that will see you reach new heights in both your personal and professional development. Undergoing a course, to gain a qualification in early childhood education, is a great way to start your career in childcare. There are 3 main courses that you can study in early childhood education that can take you to different levels in your career.

Level 1

Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care

If you have never worked in childcare you can start by enrolling in a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. As long as you are actively working towards completing your Cert III you can also apply for a role as an Educator, allowing you to earn while you learn. A Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care should take around 12 to 18 months to complete and once obtained you can continue to work as an Educator with children in all rooms from Nursery to Kindergarten.

Level 2

Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care

The next step in a career in Early Learning is enrolling in a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. A Diploma will take 1 to 2 years to complete however you can continue to work as an Educator whilst studying. If you meet the criteria stated by ACECQA, you may also like to consider working as a Lead Educator while completing your Diploma. Edge provides you with an allocation of paid study hours to help you complete your Diploma faster. Once you have completed your Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care you may like to work towards various promotions such as a Coordinator, Educational Leader, or Centre Director.

Level 3

Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood)

If you have a passion for Early Childhood Education and you love working in the Kindergarten room, a Bachelor in Early Childhood Education will be suited to you. A Bachelor will take from 3 years to complete full-time or from 6 years to complete part-time, depending on the course you choose to enrol in. Once you have completed your Bachelor you will be a certified Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) and will be able to positively contribute to the educational program and practice within the Kindergarten room, and across the centre. Kool Kids Training College

Kool Kids Training College (KKTC) is a Registered Training Organisation with nationally recognised qualifications specialising in providing the best quality training for the Early Childhood Education and Care sector. KKTC proudly supports Edge Early Learning by providing high quality training for early childhood educators. Delivering both the CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, and the CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, KKTC provides high levels of learning and support to nurture students into becoming the best educators they can be.

Become trainee and earn your Cert III

As a trainee, you will learn on the job while studying a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. With in-centre practical training each week you will be able to apply your learning to real-world scenarios. You will receive exceptional mentoring and support as you complete your Cert III with KKTC and Edge. At Edge, Trainees are paid above award wages and the cost of your Cert III is free!
