Preschool Program supporting successful transitions to school
“Play is the answer to how anything new comes about” – Jean Piaget
At Edge Early Learning Higgins, we believe the first 5 years in a child’s life are the most crucial in terms of their development and wellbeing. We consider this the time children learn about the foundations that they will rely on later in life. That is why children learn about mindfulness strategies and practice gratitude throughout our curriculum.
We believe our centre should be a home away from home; a place where all children and families feel safe, secure, and have a sense of belonging. Through play and inquiry-based learning we aim to fill our centre with wonder and have the children embrace their natural curiosity and a love of learning.
We invite you to come and tour our centre and experience the wonder for yourself.
Edge Early Learning Higgins provides quality childcare and preschool programs tailored to children from 6 weeks to school age. Our team of long-standing educators are passionate about ensuring both you and your children feel welcome and involved in our Educational Curriculum and your individual child’s learning journey.
We are well-connected with our local schools, businesses, and services within the Higgins community. The children enjoy visiting the residents at The Henry Retirement Village and sharing stories, activities, and letters with one another. Our peers at Belconnen High School also love to stop by to read stories and share lessons with the children, which creates such a sense of excitement about starting school.
With a focus on a successful transition to school, each child also receives a personalised program to provide the best early learning experience and aid in their growth and development. Health, wellbeing, and sustainability are also an important part of our curriculum. The children enjoy learning about recycling, our native flora and fauna, and they especially love tending to our green wall where we trim and propagate new plants from. Our in-house chef cooks the children’s meals on-site and caters to any dietary requirements, ensuring all children get the nutrition they need to sustain active learning throughout the day.
