We welcome children from 6 weeks to school age into our childcare and kindergarten providing a safe, inclusive environment that celebrates diverse cultures and promotes the value of a multicultural community. Our qualified team has over 50 years of combined experience in early learning and builds strong, trusting relationships with children. Families tell us their children settle quickly, grow in confidence and arrive each day happy to be here, and that our educators are attentive, caring and always ready to listen.

When you walk through our doors, you’ll be met with expansive, light-filled classrooms and wide-open shaded outdoor environments designed around Zillmere’s natural elements, with bike tracks, climbing forts and water play stations. Our art atelier rooms give children space to participate in the creative arts, strengthening imagination, emotional intelligence and problem-solving.

We offer a government-approved kindergarten program, led by a degree-qualified early childhood teacher, giving your child a confident start to school. Located just across from Zillmere State School, our kindergarten children visit the school for excursions so the transition already feels familiar. Safeguarding and wellbeing shape the way we support your child every single day. Our team undertakes regular training and applies the national child safety principles in everything from daily routines to how we listen to children. By the time your child heads off to school, they’ll carry with them the skills and self-belief that make those first days a joy.

Kindergarten Program

Our government-approved Zillmere Kindergarten program (or Kindy) is delivered by our university qualified Early Childhood Teacher and experienced educators. It’s designed to build school-ready skills such as early literacy, numeracy, independence, self-help skills, emotional regulation, and social skills. If you thought Kindy at a Childcare centre meant long days and fees, think again. Zillmere families can choose to enrol in Free Kindy 7.5hr sessions, twice a week, for 40 weeks of the year. We also cater to Kindy-aged families needing more care and education, giving families the option to add on hours or days to suit their schedules.

Enrolling in ‘Free Kindy’ at Edge Zillmere means your child can access 15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year of QLD Government subsidised Kindergarten. If you add on hours or days, these will be subsidised by your eligible CCS.

We encourage family involvement throughout the critical Kindy year, partnering with you to develop learning goals and monitor progress ahead of graduation.

*The Queensland Government’s Free Kindy subsidy totals 600 hours of subsidised Kindergarten per year. Learn more about the Queensland Free Kindy program.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I enrol my child in childcare?

A: The first step is to tour your preferred Edge Early Learning and Kindergarten centre by booking a tour. This gives you an opportunity to meet our educators, explore our nurturing environment, and understand how we can provide an experience that is best suited to your child. After your tour, you’ll receive an enrolment form to secure a spot or join the waitlist.

Q: Does Edge Zillmere have availability or a waitlist?

A: Edge Early Learning Zillmere takes enrolments for start dates in the coming weeks, right out to 12 months into the future, depending on our availability at the time of your enquiry. Our Family Engagement Team can provide you with our current availability in each classroom, and help you join our waitlist if we don’t have a position for your child when you need it. Call us on 07 3517 0629 between 8am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Q: What is the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)?

A: The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is a federal government subsidy designed to help Australian families with the cost of approved childcare. The amount you receive depends on your family’s income, the type of care, and your recognised activity hours. Learn about CCS.

Q: How do I apply for the Childcare Subsidy (CCS)?

A: To apply for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) you’ll need to create a MyGov account, link your Centrelink account, and submit your application with supporting documents such as your child’s birth certificate. Applying for CCS is simple but you should apply early to ensure you are ready to receive subsidised care in time for your child’s first day at Edge Zillmere. To apply for the CCS:

  • Set up a MyGov account (if you don’t have one already) and ensure you have a Customer Reference Number
  • Set up your Centrelink online account through MyGov
  • Prove your identity through documentation to be able to claim payments (you can do this online or in-person at Centrelink)
  • Gather supporting documents including payslips, birth certificate, and medical records
  • Submit supporting documents in your Centrelink online account or the express plus Centrelink mobile app. You can also mail, fax, or visit a service centre.
  • Lodge your application via MyGov.
  • Once this is lodged, Edge Early Learning, as your childcare provider, will input your enrolment details and lodge your application for you to get it fully processed.
  • The Government will then notify you to confirm your subsidy eligibility and entitlement (how much they will subsidise off your childcare cost).

For more information on the application process, including how to do the childcare subsidy assessment, visit Services Australia website.

Q: How can I estimate my childcare fees?

A: You can use our easy Childcare Subsidy Calculator to get an estimate of your out-of-pocket fees for our centre. Simply input your details, and the calculator will provide an indication of your potential subsidy and fees.

Q: Does Edge Zillmere offer Free Kindy?

A: Yes! Our government‑approved Kindergarten program is delivered by a qualified Early Childhood Teacher and experienced educators to give children a confident start to school.

Eligible families can access Free Kindy funding (15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year)* at our centre to reduce out‑of‑pocket costs. Our centre team or Family Engagement Team, can help explain how Free Kindy funding from the QLD government can be applied on top of your existing Childcare Subsidy, to further reduce your out-of-pocket costs. Find out more about Free Kindy.

At Edge Early Learning, our Kindergarten program runs year-round with extended hours to meet your family’s needs. Each child’s learning goals are personalised and tracked across the 11 Key Learning Areas to build school‑ready skills such as early literacy, numeracy, independence, self-help skills, emotional regulation, and social skills.

* ‘Free Kindy’ subsidy totals 600 hours of subsidised Kindergarten per year.

Q: What’s the difference between Kindy at Edge Zillmere and community Kindergarten?

A: There is no difference to the quality of the Kindy education program offered at Edge Zillmere versus a community or stand-alone Kindergarten. Our program meets both the Early Years Learning Framework (national curriculum) and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline. What you will find sets us apart is our Teach A Rainbow education program in Kindy which is exclusive to Edge and is taught by a degree qualified Early Childhood Teacher. The other main difference between Edge Zillmere’s Kindy and other standalone providers is family flexibility. Our Childcare and Kindy run year-round, with long daycare session hours (how long we can care for your child each day) for those families that need it. This means you don’t need to find alternative care for your child during the school holidays, or outside of the 8am–3:30pm Kindy program each day.

Only want to attend our centre for ‘Free Kindy’ across two days each week? That’s fine too! We offer a flexible 7.5 hour session for families who simply want their child to participate in Free Kindy for the 7.5 hour days, two days each week.

Q: What do I need to bring?

A: At Edge Early Learning Zillmere, we aim to make life as easy as possible for you, so we supply most of the necessities including sustainable nappies, wipes, sunscreen, and nutritious meals (breakfast through to a late snack) to ensure your child is well-cared for throughout the day. However, there are a few items that you will need to bring to ensure your child has everything they need:

  • Hat and drink bottle (supplied on enrolment)
  • Spare clothes (3 sets)
  • Bedding sheets for sleep time (nursery room sheets supplied)
  • Any comfort items (dummies)
  • Nappy cream (requires pharmacy label)
  • Formula (pre-measured in dispenser) & baby bottles (pre-filled with water) / Breastmilk (clearly labelled)

Q: Where is Edge Zillmere located?

A: We’re conveniently located on Murphy Road, next to Len Trezona Park and across from Zillmere State School, making our location perfect for families managing school drop-off and pick-up. Plus, we offer on-site parking for added ease and accessibility. We’re also 450m from Zillmere Train Station and only a 5 minute drive to Robinson Road Marketplace.

Q: Do you provide food?

A: Yes! Your child will enjoy nutritious meals designed to be age-appropriate and nutritionally balanced to support healthy growth and development. Featuring a variety of whole foods and culturally inspired dishes, we ensure we meet all dietary needs and allergy requirements to ensure every child receives nourishing meals each day.

Q: What extra-curricular activities are provided?

A: At our Zillmere daycare and kindergarten, we offer Happy Feet Fitness dance and movement classes. This program is optional and available for a small additional fee, giving families the flexibility to choose what suits their child’s interests.

Q: Can I book extra casual days?

A: At Edge Early Learning Zillmere, we make it easy for families to book the care you need, when you need it. We partner with Childcare Now, an on-demand booking platform that allows you to book a casual day at the touch of a button, from your phone.

Enrolled families will receive a weekly SMS letting you know when there’s availability in your child’s room. You can instantly book available casual days or go on a waitlist and be the first to be notified if space opens up for the date you need extra childcare.

Q: Does Edge Zillmere you offer a holiday discount?

A: Yes! Discover flexible childcare with our annual holiday discount offering 30% off* the daily fee for up to 4 weeks per year.

Terms and conditions apply. The Edge Early Learning holiday discount entitles enrolled families to up to 4 weeks of holiday discount per year when the family provides a minimum two weeks’ notice in advance of the holiday. One week of holiday equates to the number of days in your child’s permanent weekly booking. Once your holiday discount is approved by your Centre Director, the Edge Centre Support Team will apply a 30% discount to the daily fee during the holiday period. Up to four weeks total holiday discount per enrolment per year.

Q: How do you communicate and partner with families?

A: At Edge Early Learning Zillmere, we believe open and collaborative communication is essential to every child’s learning journey. That’s why we encourage families to connect with our Centre Leadership Team and educators for face-to-face conversations about your child’s development, whenever it suits your schedule.
