A: To enrol in childcare or kindergarten, the first step is to tour your preferred Edge Early Learning centre by booking a tour. This gives you an opportunity to meet our educators, explore our nurturing environment, and understand how we can provide an experience that is best suited to your child. After your tour, you’ll receive an enrolment form to secure a spot or join the waitlist.

A: At our West End – Jane St centre, we take enrolments for start dates in the coming weeks, right out to 12 months into the future, depending on our availability at the time of your enquiry. Our Family Engagement Team can let you know what places are available in each classroom. If there isn’t a spot available when you need it, we can add your child to our waitlist.

A: The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is a federal government subsidy designed to help Australian families with the cost of approved childcare. The amount you receive depends on your family’s income, the type of care, and your recognised activity hours. Learn about CCS.

A: To apply for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) you’ll need to create a MyGov account, link your Centrelink account, and submit your application with supporting documents such as your child’s birth certificate. Applying for CCS is easy, but it’s a good idea to apply early so you’re ready for your child’s first day at Edge West End – Jane St. Follow these steps to apply for the CCS:

• Create a MyGov account (if you don’t have one) and get a Customer Reference Number (CRN)
• Set up your Centrelink online account through MyGov
• Prove who you are by showing documents, either online or in person at Centrelink, to be able to claim payments
• Get your documents ready, like payslips, your child’s birth certificate, and any medical records
• Submit your documents through your Centrelink online account or the Express Plus Centrelink app. You can also mail, fax, or go to a Centrelink service centre
• Submit your CCS application via MyGov after uploading the required documents

Once this is lodged, Edge Early Learning will input your enrolment details and lodge your application for you to get it fully processed. The Government will then notify you to confirm your subsidy eligibility and entitlement (how much they will subsidise off your childcare cost). A: Yes! Our West End centre on Jane Street offers a government‑approved Kindergarten program, which is delivered by a qualified Early Childhood Teacher and experienced educators to give children a confident start to school.

Eligible families can access Free Kindy funding (15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year)* at our centre to reduce out‑of‑pocket costs. Our centre team or Family Engagement Team, can help explain how Free Kindy funding from the QLD government can be applied on top of your existing Childcare Subsidy, to further reduce your out-of-pocket costs. At Edge Early Learning, our Kindergarten program runs year-round with extended hours to meet your family’s needs. Each child’s learning goals are personalised and tracked across the 11 Key Learning Areas to build school‑ready skills such as early literacy, numeracy, independence, self-help skills, emotional regulation, and social skills.

A: Edge West End – Jane St stands apart from stand-alone or community Kindergarten in four ways: our exclusive Teach A Rainbow education program, year-round extended hours, meals cooked daily, and the flexibility to combine Free Kindy with full daycare in a single setting.

Our Teach A Rainbow education program is exclusive to Edge Early Learning and is taught by a degree qualified Early Childhood Teacher across 11 Key Learning Areas, building school-ready skills including early literacy, numeracy, emotional regulation, and social skills. Our program meets both the Early Years Learning Framework v2.0 (national curriculum) and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline, so the standard of education is identical to any community Kindergarten.

Unlike most community Kindergarten, our West End Childcare and Kindergarten is open all year (except public holidays), with long daycare hours for families who need longer care each day. This means you don’t need to find alternative care for your child during the school holidays or outside of the 8am–3:30pm Kindy program each day.

Prefer Free Kindy only? We offer a 7.5 hour session across two days per week, 40 weeks per year. Families on this session will only need to pay fees during school holidays to maintain their child’s enrolment.

A: We partner closely with West End State School to support each child’s smooth transition from kindergarten to prep. Our Kindergarten children take part in “Peek into Prep” visits, where they meet the teachers and experience the prep classroom environment. We also welcome prep teachers to visit at the end of each year to help children feel confident and prepared for school. Our Early Childhood Teacher actively participates in meetings with the school and other local Early Childhood Teachers to share knowledge and support strong transition planning for each child.

A: At Edge Early Learning West End – Jane St, we aim to make life as easy as possible for you, so we supply most of the necessities including sustainable nappies, wipes, sunscreen, insect repellent, and nutritious meals (breakfast through to a late snack) to ensure your child is well-cared for throughout the day. However, there are a few items that you will need to bring to ensure your child has everything they need:

• Hat and drink bottle (supplied on enrolment)
• Spare clothes (3 sets)
• Any comfort items (dummies)
• Nappy cream (requires pharmacy label)
• Formula (pre-measured in dispenser) & baby bottles (pre-filled with water) / Breastmilk (clearly labelled)

A: We’re conveniently located on Jane Street in West End, just a short walk to West End State School, making our location perfect for families managing school drop-off and pick-up. Plus, we offer on-site parking for added ease and accessibility.

We’re also only 650m from Edge Early Learning West End – Montague Rd.

Our central location within the West End community allows us to easily enjoy local excursions, including visits to the local school, park, library, coffee shop and grocery store.

A: Yes! Your child will enjoy fresh, nutritious meals prepared daily by our on-site cook. Designed with growing bodies in mind, our menus are age-appropriate and nutritionally balanced to support healthy growth and development. Featuring a variety of whole foods and culturally inspired dishes, meals can be tailored to suit individual tastes, dietary needs, and allergy requirements to ensure every child receives nourishing meals each day.

A: At our West End day care and kindergarten, we offer weekly extra-curricular activities such as languages, cooking, music, yoga and storytime included in your daily fees with no extra charges!

• Cooking experiences (Wednesdays) in small groups with our on-site cook in the kitchen
• Language lessons in Korean (Mondays), Mandarin (Tuesdays), Japanese (Wednesdays), and Auslan sign language (Thursdays). You’re welcome to select one or all languages for your child to learn
• Music program (Mondays) where the whole centre comes together to sing and play instruments
• Storytime (Tuesdays) where we come together as a whole centre to build a love of reading
• Yoga & mindfulness (Fridays)

Additionally, we offer allied health professional visits including dental and optical services, which are bulk billed for eligible families.

A: Yes! Enrolled families at our West End daycare can book casual days quickly at the touch of a button. We partner with Childcare Now, an on-demand booking platform accessible from your phone.

Each week, enrolled families receive an SMS showing available days in their child’s room. You can instantly book available casual days or go on a waitlist and be the first to be notified if space opens up for the date you need extra childcare.

A: Yes, we do! At Edge Early Learning West End – Jane St, families can get 30% off* the daily fee for up to 4 weeks with our annual holiday discount.

Term and conditions apply: The Edge Early Learning holiday discount entitles enrolled families to up to 4 weeks of holiday discount per year when the family provides a minimum two weeks’ notice in advance of the holiday. One week of holiday equates to the number of days in your child’s permanent weekly booking. Once your holiday discount is approved by your Centre Director, the Edge Centre Support Team will apply a 30% discount to the daily fee during the holiday period. Up to four weeks total holiday discount per enrolment per year.

• A planned room transition program, including family discussions and a transition letter, to keep you informed, reassured, and supported throughout the transition

• We proudly work with Life Ed and other similar child safety advocate organisations to strengthen the personal safety education within our programming.
• Our supervisory and senior staff complete regular Child Protection and Mandatory Reporting training.
• Our S.A.F.E. framework (Spot, Act, Fix, Explain) requires staff to speak up if they see or suspect something isn’t right. With S.A.F.E. in place, we have created a culture of accountability where reporting is expected and encouraged.
