We welcome children from 6 weeks to school age into our childcare and preschool program. In our purpose-built indoor and outdoor learning environments, qualified teachers and educators deliver Edge’s bespoke Teach A Rainbow program, personalised to your child’s interests and individual learning goals. Children learn through play with engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences that are aligned to the national curriculum. The children enjoy learning about recycling, our native flora and fauna, and they especially love tending to our fruit trees, veggie gardens and green wall, where they help trim and propagate new plants.

We offer year-round care with long day care hours to suit busy family schedules, and our Preschool program is government-approved for your peace of mind.

Our caring team is highly experienced in early learning and builds strong, trusting relationships with children and families to support a confident start to school. Children from our centre will often go on to attend Kingsford Smith School, Strathnairn School, St John the Apostle Primary School, St Matthew’s Primary School, and Macgregor Primary School.

Key milestones include:

  • Language & Literacy: Speaking in sentences (telling stories, asking and answering simple questions), and following simple rules and instructions.
  • Independence & Self-help: Dressing and toileting with minimal help, self-serving with tongs, and feeding themselves with fewer spills.
  • Cognitive & Problem-solving: Understanding size, opposites (big/little), positional words (middle/end), and matching colours and objects.

After your tour, you’ll receive an enrolment form to secure a spot or join the waitlist.

Q: Does our centre have availability or a waitlist?

A: We accept enrolments for future start dates at Edge Higgins, so whether you’re trying to enrol your child to start next month, or further down the track, we can assist you. Our Family Engagement Team can provide you with our current availability in each classroom, and help you join our waitlist if we don’t have a position for your child when you need it. Q: What is the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)?

A: The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is a federal government subsidy designed to help Australian families with the cost of approved childcare. The amount you receive depends on your family’s income, the type of care, and your recognised activity hours. Learn about CCS.

Q: How do I apply for the Childcare Subsidy (CCS)?

Applying for the Child Care Subsidy is simple; however, you should apply early to ensure you are ready to receive subsidised care in time for your child’s first day at Edge Higgins. To apply for the CCS:

  • Prove your identity through documentation to be able to claim payments (you can do this online or in-person at Centrelink)
  • Gather supporting documents including payslips, birth certificate, and medical records
