Our early learning centre in Port Adelaide is convenient for families located in and around Port Adelaide, Semaphore, Largs Bay and Rosewater.

We welcome children from 6 weeks to school age into our Port Adelaide childcare and preschool program. In our purpose-built indoor and outdoor learning environments, qualified teachers and educators deliver Edge’s bespoke Teach A Rainbow program, personalised to your child’s interests and individual learning goals. Children learn through play with engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences that are aligned to the national curriculum.

Our outdoor learning spaces are inspired by natural elements and include bike tracks, sandpits, an in-ground trampoline, water play areas, and a climbing fort.

We offer year-round care with long day care hours to suit busy family schedules, and a school readiness focus to build your child’s confidence for a smooth transition to school.

Our qualified team is highly experienced in early learning and builds strong, trusting relationships with children and families to support a confident start to school. Children from our centre will often go on to attend Westport Primary School, Le Fevre Peninsula Primary, St Joseph’s School Ottoway, Largs Bay School, Alberton Primary School, Mount Carmel College, and Pennington School.

Edge Port Adelaide offers a year-long 4-year-old Preschool Program that sets children up for a successful start to school. Our university-qualified teacher delivers programming that encourages children to manage their emotions, develop their focus and routine learning behaviours so they’re ready to thrive at school.

Our exclusive education program uses both inquiry-based experiences and play-based learning experiences to involve the children in personalised learning across 11 key learning areas including cognitive, social-emotional, oral language and literacy, and early STEM understanding.

We encourage family involvement throughout the critical Preschool year, partnering with you to develop learning goals and monitor progress ahead of graduation.

Our exclusive education program is personalised to each child’s interests and stage of development. Q: How do I enrol my child?

A: The first step is to tour your preferred Edge Early Learning and Kindergarten centre by booking a tour. This gives you an opportunity to meet our educators, explore our nurturing environment, and understand how we can provide an experience that is best suited to your child. After your tour, you’ll receive an enrolment form to secure a spot or join the waitlist.

Q: Is there availability at the centre or a waitlist?

A: Whether your child is starting soon or at a later date, we’re here to help. Our Family Engagement Team can let you know what places are available in each classroom. If there isn’t a spot available when you need it, we can add your child to our waitlist.

Q: What is the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)?

A: The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is a federal government subsidy designed to help Australian families with the cost of approved childcare. The amount you receive depends on your family’s income, the type of care, and your recognised activity hours. Learn about CCS.

Q: How do I apply for the Childcare Subsidy (CCS)?

A: Applying for the Child Care Subsidy is simple; however, you should apply early to ensure you are ready to receive subsidised care in time for your child’s first day at Edge Port Adelaide. To apply for the CCS:

  • Set up a MyGov account (if you don’t have one already) and ensure you have a Customer Reference Number.
  • Set up your Centrelink online account through MyGov.
  • Prove your identity through documentation to be able to claim payments (you can do this online or in-person at Centrelink).
  • Gather supporting documents including payslips, birth certificate, and medical records.
  • Submit supporting documents in your Centrelink online account or the express plus Centrelink mobile app. You can also mail, fax, or visit a service centre.
  • Lodge your application via MyGov.
  • Once this is lodged, Edge Early Learning, as your childcare provider, will input your enrolment details and lodge your application for you to get it fully processed.
  • The Government will then notify you to confirm your subsidy eligibility and entitlement (how much they will subsidise off your childcare cost).

Q: What do I need to bring?

A: At Edge Early Learning Port Adelaide, we aim to make life as easy as possible for you, so we supply most of the necessities including sustainable nappies, wipes, sunscreen, bedding, and nutritious meals (breakfast through to a late snack) to ensure your child is well-cared for throughout the day. However, there are a few items that you will need to bring to ensure your child has everything they need:

  • Hat and drink bottle (supplied on enrolment)
  • Spare clothes (3 sets)
  • Any comfort items (dummies)
  • Nappy cream (requires pharmacy label)
  • Formula (pre-measured in dispenser) & baby bottles (pre-filled with water) / Breastmilk (clearly labelled)

Q: Where is the centre located?

A: We’re conveniently located at the Port Adelaide Plaza Shopping Centre, on the same side as ALDI supermarket. Our centre is easily accessed via an external entrance next to Sushi Hiro. We’re only a short walk to Port Adelaide train station, and there is on-site parking for added ease and accessibility.

A: Yes! Your child will enjoy fresh, nutritious meals prepared daily by our on-site chef, using recipes developed in collaboration with accredited dietitians at The Biting Truth. Designed with growing bodies in mind, our seasonal 4-week rotating menus are designed to be age-appropriate and nutritionally balanced, aligning with the Australian Dietary Guidelines to support healthy growth and development. Featuring a variety of whole foods and culturally inspired dishes, meals can be tailored to suit individual tastes, dietary needs, and allergy requirements—ensuring every child receives nourishing meals each day.

Q: What extra-curricular activities are provided?

A: At our Port Adelaide day care and Preschool, all extra-curricular activities are included in your daily fees — no extra charges!

  • In our 3–5 year old rooms, we exceed regulatory requirements with a 1:9 educator-to-child ratio (compared to the regulated 1:11 ratio), meaning your child will receive an enhanced level of individualised care, supervision and support.
  • We actively collaborate with respected child safety organisations including Life Ed and Bravehearts to further strengthen personal safety education within our programs.
