Looking for Salisbury childcare? Edge Early Learning Salisbury Downs is a community-driven preschool and childcare centre where every day is filled with play and genuine connection. Families travelling in from Salisbury, Paralowie and Parafield Gardens find us a friendly, practical option on the daily commute.

Children aged six weeks to school age spend their days with us learning through play, building friendships and uncovering what captures their interest. Families tell us they’ve seen real progress in their children’s confidence, communication and social skills since starting at Edge. At the heart of this is our Teach A Rainbow education program, exclusive to Edge, which shapes each experience around your child’s interests and developmental goals. Children are encouraged to ask questions and explore ideas to develop problem-solving skills that set them up for school.

Our preschoolers regularly start their school journey at Salisbury Downs Primary School, The Pines Primary School, Riverdale Primary School and Parafield Gardens Primary School. We spend time preparing each child for the everyday routines and independence they’ll need at school.

Step outside and you’ll see why the kids love it: bike tracks, sandpits, climbing forts, water play stations, a slide, cubby house and yarning circle. We’re conveniently located opposite Parafield Gardens Recreation Centre and swimming school, just 4 minutes from Parafield Train Station and Salisbury Downs Primary School.

Every decision we make starts with your child’s wellbeing in mind. From our daily room routines to our ongoing safeguarding training and our commitment to the national child safety principles, we work hard to make this a place where children feel secure to be themselves. Families say that our warm, nurturing team takes the time to get to know each child.

Social-emotional Development at Edge

Meet our Centre Director, Lisa

With 20 years of experience and a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, I’ve held roles across education, leadership, and management, including 2.5 years working in a cruise ship nursery supporting families from around the world. I’ve been part of the Edge Salisbury Downs team since the centre first opened, and that foundation has allowed us to build a strong, positive culture from the very beginning.

I’m passionate about our education programs which meets each child’s individual needs, setting them up for a future where they feel safe, nurtured, and ready to grow. I also hold a Diploma in Business and Leadership and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, which shapes how I support and upskill my team every day.

We warmly welcome families from Salisbury Downs and the surrounding northern Adelaide community. Book a tour to come and meet our team!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I enrol my child in childcare?

A: To enrol at Edge Early Learning and Kindergarten, the first step is to book a tour. This gives you an opportunity to meet our educators, explore our nurturing environment, and understand how we can provide an experience that is best suited to your child. After your tour, you’ll receive an enrolment form to secure a spot or join the waitlist.

Q: Is there availability at Edge Salisbury Downs or a waitlist?

A: Edge Early Learning Salisbury Downs takes enrolments for start dates in the coming weeks, right out to 12 months into the future, depending on our availability at the time of your enquiry. Our Family Engagement Team can let you know what places are available in each classroom. If there isn’t a spot available when you need it, we can add your child to our waitlist.

Give us a call on 07 3517 0629, Monday to Friday, from 8am to 4pm AEST. We’re happy to chat and answer your questions.

Q: What is the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)?

A: The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is a federal government subsidy designed to help Australian families with the cost of approved childcare. The amount you receive depends on your family’s income, the type of care, and your recognised activity hours. Learn about CCS.

Q: How do I apply for the Childcare Subsidy (CCS)?

A: To apply for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), you’ll first need a MyGov account, a Customer Reference Number (CRM) and supporting documentation like a birth certificate. Applying for CCS is simple; however, you should apply early to ensure you are ready to receive subsidised care in time for your child’s first day at Edge Salisbury Downs. To apply for the CCS:

  • Set up a MyGov account (if you don’t have one already) and ensure you have a Customer Reference Number
  • Set up your Centrelink online account through MyGov
  • Prove your identity through documentation to be able to claim payments (you can do this online or in-person at Centrelink)
  • Gather supporting documents including payslips, birth certificate, and medical records
  • Submit supporting documents in your Centrelink online account or the express plus Centrelink mobile app. You can also mail, fax, or visit a service centre.
  • Lodge your application via MyGov.
  • Once this is lodged, Edge Early Learning, as your childcare provider, will input your enrolment details and lodge your application for you to get it fully processed.
  • The Government will then notify you to confirm your subsidy eligibility and entitlement (how much they will subsidise off your childcare cost).

For more information on the application process, including how to do the childcare subsidy assessment, visit Services Australia website.

Q: How can I estimate my childcare fees?

A: You can use our easy Childcare Subsidy Calculator to get an estimate of your out-of-pocket fees for our childcare centre in Salisbury. Simply input your details, and the calculator will provide an indication of your potential subsidy and fees.

Q: What’s the difference between our Salisbury Preschool and a community Preschool?

A: There is no difference in the quality of our Salisbury Downs preschool program (also known as kindergarten) compared to a community or stand-alone preschool. Our program meets the Early Years Learning Framework (national curriculum) and is taught by a degree qualified Early Childhood Teacher.

What makes us different?

  • Teach A Rainbow education program (only available at Edge centres)
  • Year-round program with long daycare hours across five days a week. This means you don’t have to look for extra care during school holidays or outside of the planned kindergarten program each day. It’s childcare and preschool when you need it
  • Chef cooked meals daily, unlike a typical stand-alone kindergarten, where you need to pack a lunch box for your child

Q: What do I need to bring?

A: At our childcare in Salisbury Downs, we aim to make life as easy as possible for you, so we supply most of the necessities including sustainable nappies, wipes, sunscreen, bedding, and nutritious meals (breakfast through to a late snack) to ensure your child is well-cared for throughout the day. However, there are a few items that you will need to bring to ensure your child has everything they need:

  • Hat and drink bottle (supplied on enrolment)
  • Spare clothes (3 sets)
  • Any comfort items (dummies)
  • Nappy cream (requires pharmacy label)
  • Formula (pre-measured in dispenser) & baby bottles (pre-filled with water) / Breastmilk (clearly labelled)

Q: Does Edge Early Learning have a holiday discount?

A: Yes, we do! At our Salisbury children and preschool, families can receive 30% off* the daily fee for up to 4 weeks each year with our annual holiday discount.

Terms and conditions apply: The Edge Early Learning holiday discount entitles enrolled families to up to 4 weeks of holiday discount per year when the family provides a minimum two weeks’ notice in advance of the holiday.
