A new chapter in early education is unfolding in Gordonvale with the opening of Edge Early Learning Gordonvale. This new centre is set to address the growing need for quality early childhood education in the region, providing local families with greater access to learning opportunities for their children.
A Growing Presence in Cairns
The Gordonvale centre is part of Edge Early Learning’s broader expansion in the Greater Cairns region, following the successful launch of Edge Edmonton in early 2024 and the acquisition of Edge Woree in mid-2023. With these three locations, Edge Early Learning now offers over 250 places for children and employs approximately 50 staff and educators across its Cairns centres.
Edge CEO Annie Bryce notes that the expansion is in response to increasing demand for quality early learning options in the area.
“With the population growth in Cairns and surrounds, families are seeking high-quality education and care that aligns with their values and lifestyle. Our new centres ensure more families can access the nurturing and stimulating environment that Edge provides,” Bryce said.
A Purpose-Built Space for Young Learners
Designed with both children and families in mind, Edge Early Learning Gordonvale offers a thoughtfully created environment that encourages curiosity and development. With six modern classrooms and age-appropriate play spaces, the centre aims to create a setting where children feel safe, engaged, and inspired to learn.
Centre Director, Carmen Rossiter, highlights the importance of creating an environment that supports not only children’s learning but also the needs of busy families.
“Our goal is to provide an early learning experience that nurtures children’s social and emotional growth while also offering practical support to parents,” Rossiter said.
Supporting Families with Quality Care and Flexible Options
Located at 60-62 Salvatore Dr, Gordonvale, the centre is positioned conveniently for families in the area, particularly those with older children attending nearby schools.
Operating Monday to Friday from 6:30am to 6:30pm, the centre provides flexible options to accommodate different schedules. In addition to learning programs, Edge Early Learning also offers nutritious, chef-prepared meals and incorporates sustainability initiatives such as eco-friendly resources and mindfulness activities.
Meeting the Growing Demand for Early Learning
Edge Early Learning’s expansion in Gordonvale reflects a broader effort to meet the increasing demand for early childhood education across Queensland. With their Teach A Rainbow Educational Program; guided by play-based and inquiry-led learning approaches, the centre aims to equip children with the skills they need to transition confidently into school.
As families explore childcare options, the new centre offers an opportunity to experience a structured yet nurturing environment that values both education and wellbeing.
