We welcome children from 6 weeks to school age into our childcare and preschool program. In our purpose-built indoor and outdoor learning environments, qualified teachers and educators deliver Edge’s bespoke Teach A Rainbow program, personalised to your child’s interests and individual learning goals. Children learn through play with engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences that are aligned to the national curriculum.

We offer year-round care with long day care hours to suit busy family schedules, and a school readiness focus to build your child’s confidence for a smooth transition to school.

Our qualified team is highly experienced in early learning and builds strong, trusting relationships with children and families to support a confident start to school. Children from our centre will often go on to attend Eastern Fleurieu R-12 School or Tyndale Christian School.

Strathalbyn Kindergarten Program

Edge Strathalbyn North Parade offers a comprehensive Preschool program, also known as Kindergarten, taught by our university-qualified Early Childhood Teacher and educators. Our exclusive Teach A Rainbow education program for Preschool is designed to educate the whole child across 11 key learning areas including physical, social, emotional and cognitive development.

Our program is aligned to the national Early Years curriculum, which means children develop a sense of their identity, community and wellbeing. We aim to ensure children are confident learners who can communicate effectively.

Children turning 4 before the 1st May are eligible to start 4-year-old preschool at the beginning of the year. Children turning 4 between 1st May and 31st October can start Preschool through our mid-year intake.

A: The first step is to tour your preferred Edge Early Learning and Preschool centre by booking a tour. This gives you an opportunity to meet our educators, explore our nurturing environment, and understand how we can provide an experience that is best suited to your child. After your tour, you’ll receive an enrolment form to secure a spot or join the waitlist.

Q: Is there availability at the centre or a waitlist?

A: Whether your child is starting soon or at a later date, we’re here to help. Our Family Engagement Team can let you know what places are available in each classroom. If there isn’t a spot available when you need it, we can add your child to our waitlist.

Q: How do I apply for the Childcare Subsidy (CCS)?

A: Applying for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is easy, but it’s a good idea to apply early so you’re ready for your child’s first day at Edge Strathalbyn – North Pde. Follow these steps to apply for the CCS:

  • Create a MyGov account (if you don’t have one) and get a Customer Reference Number (CRN)
  • Set up your Centrelink online account through MyGov
  • Prove who you are by showing documents, either online or in person at Centrelink, to be able to claim payments
  • Get your documents ready, like payslips, your child’s birth certificate, and any medical records
  • Submit your documents through your Centrelink online account or the Express Plus Centrelink app. You can also mail, fax, or go to a Centrelink service centre

Q: What do I need to bring?

A: At Edge Early Learning Strathalbyn – North Pde, we aim to make life as easy as possible for you, so we supply most of the necessities including sustainable nappies, wipes, sunscreen, bedding, and nutritious meals (breakfast through to a late snack) to ensure your child is well-cared for throughout the day. However, there are a few items that you will need to bring to ensure your child has everything they need:

  • Hat and drink bottle (supplied on enrolment)
  • Spare clothes (3 sets)
  • Any comfort items (dummies)
  • Nappy cream (requires pharmacy label)
  • Formula (pre-measured in dispenser) & baby bottles (pre-filled with water) / Breastmilk (clearly labelled)

We’re also only minutes from our Edge Early Learning Strathalbyn – Braemar Dr centre on Braemar Drive, just across the skatepark. This close proximity makes it easy for children to enjoy shared excursions and form friendships with peers they may later attend school with.

Designed with growing bodies in mind, our seasonal 4-week rotating menus are designed to be age-appropriate and nutritionally balanced, aligning with the Australian Dietary Guidelines to support healthy growth and development. Featuring a variety of whole foods and culturally inspired dishes, meals can be tailored to suit individual tastes, dietary needs, and allergy requirements—ensuring every child receives nourishing meals each day.

Q: Can I book additional casual days?

A: Yes! At Edge Early Learning Strathalbyn – North Pde, we make it simple to book care when you need it. We partner with Childcare Now, an on-demand booking platform that allows you to book a casual day at the touch of a button, from your phone.

Enrolled families will receive a weekly SMS letting you know when there’s availability in your child’s room. You can instantly book available casual days or go on a waitlist and be the first to be notified if space opens up for the date you need extra childcare.

A: Yes! Discover flexible childcare with our annual holiday discount offering 30% off* the daily fee for up to 4 weeks per year.

*The Edge Early Learning holiday discount entitles enrolled families to up to 4 weeks of holiday discount per year when the family provides a minimum two weeks’ notice in advance of the holiday. One week of holiday equates to the number of days in your child’s permanent weekly booking. Once your holiday discount is approved by your Centre Director, the Edge Centre Support Team will apply a 30% discount to the daily fee during the holiday period. Up to four weeks total holiday discount per enrolment per year.
