Edge Early Learning North Harbour

A: The first step is to book a tour at our Burpengary East childcare and Kindergarten centre. Our Centre Director, Nicola, will personally show you around our purpose-built centre and give you an opportunity to meet our educators, explore our nurturing environments, and understand how we can provide an experience that is best suited to your child. After your tour, our Family Engagement Team will either send you an enrolment form to secure a spot or join our North Harbour waitlist.

A: We accept enrolments for future start dates at our Burpengary daycare and kindergarten, so whether you’re trying to enrol your child to start next month, or further down the track, we can assist you. Our Family Engagement Team can provide you with our current availability in each classroom, and help you join our waitlist if we don’t have a position for your child when you need it. A: The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is a federal government subsidy designed to help Australian families with the cost of approved childcare. The amount you receive depends on your family’s income, the type of care, and your recognised activity hours. You will need to apply for the Child Care Subsidy through MyGov before your child starts at our childcare in Burpengary East so that it can help reduce the cost of your childcare from day one. Each eligible family’s CCS is paid directly to Edge North Harbour, and we are then able to invoice families for any ‘gap’ fee payable for each day of care. Learn about CCS.

Applying for the Child Care Subsidy is simple; however, you should apply early to ensure you are ready to receive subsidised care in time for your child’s first day at Edge North Harbour. To apply for the CCS:

• Set up a MyGov account (if you don’t have one already) and ensure you have a Customer Reference Number
• Set up your Centrelink online account through MyGov
• Prove your identity through documentation to be able to claim payments (you can do this online or in-person at Centrelink)
• Gather supporting documents including payslips, birth certificate, and medical records
• Submit supporting documents in your Centrelink online account or the express plus Centrelink mobile app. You can also mail, fax, or visit a service centre.
• Lodge your application via MyGov.
• Once this is lodged, Edge Early Learning, as your childcare provider, will input your enrolment details and lodge your application for you to get it fully processed.
• The Government will then notify you to confirm your subsidy eligibility and entitlement (how much they will subsidise off your childcare cost).

A: You can use our easy Childcare Subsidy Calculator to get an estimate of your out-of-pocket fees for Edge Early Learning North Harbour. Simply complete the questions in our CCS calculator and input your details, and the calculator will provide an indication of your potential childcare subsidy and resulting out-of-pocket daily fees (the actual childcare cost you will be invoiced for each fortnight).

A: The Queensland Government offers eligible Queensland children up to 15 hours of Kindy per week free*, for 40 weeks of the year, generally aligning to Queensland primary school terms. This subsidy further reduces the cost of Kindy at Edge North Harbour, especially where our families are already receiving the Childcare Subsidy (CCS) to subsidise their childcare costs. As we operate long daycare hours for busy families, parents and carers of Kindy children simply need to pay the cost of any Kindy program hours over the 600 ‘free’ hours. These are often referred to as ‘wrap-around’ hours. Your Childcare Subsidy will also continue to subsidise your ‘wrap-around’ hours so that your child can get the most out of their Kindy education (yes! In Kindy you could be eligible for two subsidies at once to reduce your fees). Navigating Kindy Funding and the CCS can be tricky. At Edge Early Learning, our Burpengary Kindergarten program runs year-round with extended hours from 6:30am to 6:30pm to meet your family’s needs. Each child’s learning goals are personalised and tracked across the 11 Key Learning Areas in Edge’s exclusive Teach A Rainbow education program to build school‑ready skills such as early literacy, numeracy, independence, self-help skills, emotional regulation, and social skills.

* Free Kindy subsidy totals 600 hours of subsidised Kindergarten per year.

A: There is no difference in the quality of the Kindy education program offered at Edge North Harbour versus a community or stand-alone Kindergarten. Our program meets both the Early Years Learning Framework (national curriculum) and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline. What you will find sets us apart is our Teach A Rainbow education program in Kindy, which is exclusive to Edge and is taught by a degree qualified Early Childhood Teacher. The other main difference between our Burpengary Kindergarten and other standalone providers is family flexibility. Our Childcare and Kindy run year-round, with long daycare session hours (how long we can care for your child each day) for those families that need it. This means you don’t need to find alternative care for your child during the school holidays, or outside of the 8.30am–4pm Kindy program each day.

Only want to attend our centre for Free Kindy across two days each week? That’s fine too! We offer a flexible 7.5 hour session for families who simply want their child to participate in Free Kindy for the 7.5 hour days, two days each week.

A: At Edge Early Learning North Harbour, we aim to make life as easy as possible for you, so we supply most of the necessities including sustainable nappies, wipes, sunscreen, and nutritious meals (breakfast through to a late snack) to ensure your child is well-cared for throughout the day. However, there are a few items that you will need to bring to ensure your child has everything they need:

• Hat and drink bottle (supplied on enrolment)
• Spare clothes (3 sets)
• Bedding sheets for sleep time
• Any comfort items (dummies)
• Nappy cream (requires pharmacy label)
• Formula (pre-measured in dispenser) & baby bottles (pre-filled with water) / Breastmilk (clearly labelled)

A: We’re conveniently located on Fraser Drive in Burpengary East, opposite the North Harbour Sales and Information Centre. We also offer on-site parking for added ease and accessibility.

A: Yes! Your child will enjoy fresh, nutritious meals prepared daily by our on-site chef, using recipes developed in collaboration with accredited dietitians at The Biting Truth and our families for cultural inspiration.

Designed with growing bodies in mind, our seasonal 4-week rotating menus are age-appropriate and nutritionally balanced, aligning with the Australian Dietary Guidelines to support healthy growth and development. Featuring a variety of whole foods and diverse flavours from different cultures, meals can be tailored to suit individual tastes, dietary needs, and allergy requirements—ensuring every child receives nourishing meals each day.

A: At our Burpengary East centre our Kindergarten children enjoy extra-curricular activities, that are included in your daily fees — no extra charges!

• Tuesdays – Musical Mates (fortnightly)
• Fridays – Mini Monstars sports, dance and gymnastics program

A: We partner closely with Burpengary State School to support each child’s smooth transition from kindergarten to prep. Our Early Childhood Teacher leads kindergarten class excursions to the school, and we welcome regular visits from the school community including the Head of Special Education to discuss further supports that may be needed to help children feel confident and prepared for school.

A: Yes! At Edge Early Learning North Harbour, we make it simple to book care when you need it. We partner with Childcare Now, an on-demand booking platform that allows you to book a casual day at the touch of a button, from your phone.

Enrolled families will receive a weekly SMS letting you know when there’s availability in your child’s room. You can instantly book available casual days or go on a waitlist and be the first to be notified if space opens up for the date you need extra childcare.

A: Yes! Discover flexible childcare at Edge North Harbour with our annual holiday discount offering 30% off* the daily fee for up to 4 weeks per year.

Terms & Conditions apply: The Edge Early Learning holiday discount entitles enrolled families to up to 4 weeks of holiday discount per year when the family provides a minimum two weeks’ notice in advance of the holiday. One week of holiday equates to the number of days in your child’s permanent weekly booking. Once your holiday discount is approved by your Centre Director, the Edge Centre Support Team will apply a 30% discount to the daily fee during the holiday period. Up to four weeks total holiday discount per enrolment per year.
