Welcome to our Marsden Childcare & Kindergarten

  • Features: Art atelier rooms, cooking, yoga, Auslan sign language, gardening and sustainability, native stingless beehives, Indigenous education, dental and optical visits, and more.
  • All-inclusive childcare with sustainable nappies, wipes, sunscreen, and nutritious meals prepared by an on-site chef (breakfast to a late snack).
  • Long-standing team of qualified educators and teachers who pride themselves on developing strong relationships with families, to help encourage a lifelong love of learning.

Edge Early Learning Marsden is a welcoming place where families feel supported and our educators do their best to make every day a good one. We’re equally well placed for families based in Crestmead, Loganlea, Waterford West and Berrinba. As a trusted provider of childcare and kindergarten in Marsden, we take the time to get to know every child.

Every age group has its own room, with routines and experiences tailored to children from six weeks through to kindergarten. At the heart of it all is our Teach A Rainbow education program, that weaves play, inquiry and intentional teaching into fortnightly learning experiences tailored to your child. In our kindy room, a qualified early childhood teacher delivers a government-approved kindergarten program that blends play-based learning with the school-readiness skills that really matter.

Sustainability is woven into daily life at Edge Marsden, from our native Australian stingless beehive to hands-on gardening with fruit trees, a veggie patch and bush tucker garden. Our spacious outdoor environment invites children to climb, create and wonder, with bike tracks, sandpits, a climbing fort with slide, mud kitchen, water play area, yarning circle, and a sheltered outdoor dining space. Around the centre you’ll find art atelier rooms, parent pram storage, and on-site parking designed with real family life in mind.

Families often stay with us through to kindergarten, knowing that their child will start school at Marsden State School, Burrowes State School or Groves Christian College alongside friends they already know. Our kindergarten program builds the independence and social skills they’ll use in the classroom. Through our partnership with Marsden State School, prep and early intervention teachers visit our kindy children giving them a familiar face for their first day of school. You’ll also find us a 2 minute drive to Marsden State School, so drop-off and pick-up fit neatly into your routine.

Every decision we make starts with your child’s wellbeing. From our daily practices to our ongoing safeguarding training and commitment to the national child safety principles, we work hard to make this a place where children feel truly safe. When school beckons, your child will step into it with a strong sense of self, the natural result of years spent being known, challenged and cheered on by a team that loves what they do. We welcome tours from families exploring childcare and Kindergarten in Marsden. We’d love to meet you and answer any question along the way.

Hands down the BEST daycare you'll find. Loving staff treat your babies as their own, not just "another kid".

Kindergarten Program

Edge Marsden offers a year-long Kindergarten Program that sets your child up for a successful start to school. Our university-qualified teacher delivers programming that encourages children to manage their emotions, develop their focus and routine learning behaviours so they’re ready to thrive at school.

Key learning milestones you can expect:

  • Social & Emotional: Learning to navigate emotions, share, take turns, and build positive relationships.
  • Language & Literacy: Speaking in sentences (telling stories, asking and answering simple questions), and following simple rules and instructions.
  • Independence & Self-help: Dressing and toileting with minimal help, self-serving with tongs, and feeding themselves with fewer spills.
  • Cognitive & Problem-solving: Understanding size, opposites (big/little), positional words (middle/end), and matching colours and objects.

We’re also government-approved, which means your child can access Free Kindy funding, providing 15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year of free Kindy. This subsidy is in addition to any Childcare Subsidy (CCS) your family is eligible for, to further reduce your daily out of pocket cost for Kindergarten.

*The Queensland Government’s Free Kindy subsidy totals 600 hours of subsidised Kindergarten per year. Learn more about the Queensland Free Kindy program.

Meet our Assistant Director, Ashleigh

Meet our Educational Leader, Aimee

Meet our Centre Director, Simone

Hi, I’m Simone, Centre Director at Edge Early Learning Marsden. With 39 years of experience in early childhood education, I’m passionate about helping children learn and grow at their own pace and in their own way. I’ve proudly been part of the Edge team since 2020, and joined our Marsden centre in 2021. A fun fact about me is that I actually worked at this very centre in 1994 (then known as Marsden Kindergarten) as a room leader. It’s a special place with a lot of history for me personally.

At Edge Marsden, we value cultural and community connections, believing they enrich learning and create a brighter future for all. We also believe that caring for our environment is part of caring for our children. We’ve been recognised multiple times for our high-quality care and sustainability, including winning the City of Logan Eco Business Award in 2024 and 2022. You can read more about our awards in our FAQs. We warmly welcome families from Marsden and the surrounding Logan community to book a tour and meet our team!

Q: How do I enrol my child in childcare?

A: To enrol your child in your preferred Edge Early Learning and kindergarten centre, start by booking a centre tour. This gives you the opportunity to meet our educators, explore our nurturing environment, and understand how we can provide an experience that is best suited to your child. After your tour, you’ll receive an enrolment form to secure a spot or join the waitlist.

Q: Are there places available at the centre or is there a waitlist?

A: Edge Marsden takes enrolments for start dates in the coming weeks, right out to 12 months into the future, depending on our availability at the time of your enquiry. If you would like your child to begin soon or later in the year, we can guide you through the process. Our Family Engagement Team can tell you which rooms have spots open right now. If a place is not available when you need it, we can add your child’s name to our waitlist.

Please call us on 07 3517 0629, Monday to Friday, between 8am and 4pm, and we’ll be glad to help.

Q: What is the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)?

A: The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is a federal government subsidy designed to help Australian families with the cost of approved childcare. The amount you receive depends on your family’s income, the type of care, and your recognised activity hours. Learn about CCS.

Q: How do I apply for the Childcare Subsidy (CCS)?

A: To apply for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) you’ll need to create a MyGov account, link your Centrelink account, and submit your application with supporting documents such as your child’s birth certificate. Applying for CCS is easy and it’s a good idea to apply early so you’re ready for your child’s first day at Edge Marsden. Follow this step-by-step guide to apply for the CCS:

  • Create a MyGov account (if you don’t have one) and get a Customer Reference Number (CRN)
  • Set up your Centrelink online account through MyGov
  • Prove who you are by showing documents, either online or in person at Centrelink, to be able to claim payments
  • Get your documents ready, like payslips, your child’s birth certificate, and any medical records
  • Submit your documents through your Centrelink online account or the Express Plus Centrelink app. You can also mail, fax, or go to a Centrelink service centre
  • Submit your CCS application via MyGov after uploading the required documents

Once this is lodged, Edge Early Learning will input your enrolment details and lodge your application for you to get it fully processed. The Government will then notify you to confirm your subsidy eligibility and entitlement (how much they will subsidise off your childcare cost). For more information on the application process, including how to do the childcare subsidy assessment, visit Services Australia website.

Q: How can I estimate my childcare fees?

A: You can use our easy Childcare Subsidy Calculator to get an estimate of your out-of-pocket fees for our centre. Simply input your details, and the calculator will provide an indication of your potential subsidy and fees.

Q: Do you offer Free Kindy?

A: Yes! Our government‑approved Kindergarten program is delivered by a qualified Early Childhood Teacher and experienced educators to give children a confident start to school.

Eligible families can access Free Kindy funding (15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year)* at our centre to reduce out‑of‑pocket costs. Our centre team or Family Engagement Team, can help explain how Free Kindy funding from the QLD government can be applied on top of your existing Childcare Subsidy, to further reduce your out-of-pocket costs. Find out more about Free Kindy.

At Edge Early Learning Marsden, our Kindergarten program runs year-round with extended hours to meet your family’s needs. Each child’s learning goals are personalised and tracked across the 11 Key Learning Areas to build school‑ready skills such as early literacy, numeracy, independence, self-help skills, emotional regulation, and social skills.

* Free Kindy subsidy totals 600 hours of subsidised Kindergarten per year.

Q: What’s the difference between Kindy at Edge Marsden and community Kindergarten?

A: Edge Marsden stands apart from stand-alone or community Kindergarten in four ways: our exclusive Teach A Rainbow education program, year-round extended hours, chef cooked meals, and the flexibility to combine Free Kindy with full daycare in a single setting.

Our Teach A Rainbow education program is unique to Edge Early Learning and is taught by a degree qualified Early Childhood Teacher across 11 Key Learning Areas, building school-ready skills including early literacy, numeracy, emotional regulation, and social skills.

Unlike community Kindergarten, our Childcare and Kindergarten are open all year (except public holidays), with long daycare session hours (how long we can care for your child each day) for families who need longer care each day. This means you don’t need to find alternative care for your child during the school holidays or outside of the 8:30am–4pm Kindergarten program each day.

Only want to attend our centre for Free Kindy across two days each week? That’s fine too! We offer a flexible 7.5 hour session for families who only want their child to participate in Free Kindy for the 7.5 hour days, two days each week.

Our program meets both the Early Years Learning Framework V2.0 (national curriculum) and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline, so the standard of education is identical to any community Kindergarten.

Q: What do I need to bring?

A: At Edge Early Learning Marsden, we aim to make life as easy as possible for you, so we supply most of the necessities including sustainable nappies, wipes, sunscreen, and nutritious meals (breakfast through to a late snack) to ensure your child is well-cared for throughout the day. However, there are a few items that you will need to bring to ensure your child has everything they need:

  • Hat and drink bottle (supplied on enrolment)
  • Spare clothes (3 sets)
  • Bedding sheets for sleep time
  • Any comfort items (dummies)
  • Nappy cream (requires pharmacy label)
  • Formula (pre-measured in dispenser) & baby bottles (pre-filled with water) / Breastmilk (clearly labelled)

Q: Where is the centre located?

A: Edge Early Learning Marsden is conveniently located on First Avenue, just off Browns Plains Road, and only a 2 minute drive to Marsden State School. Plus, we offer on-site parking for added ease and accessibility.

Q: Do you provide food?

A: Yes! Your child will enjoy fresh, nutritious meals prepared daily by our on-site chef, using recipes developed in collaboration with accredited dietitians at The Biting Truth. Designed with growing bodies in mind, our seasonal 4-week rotating menus are age-appropriate and nutritionally balanced, aligning with the Australian Dietary Guidelines to support healthy growth and development. Featuring a variety of whole foods and culturally inspired dishes, meals can be tailored to suit individual tastes, dietary needs, and allergy requirements to ensure every child receives nourishing meals each day.

Q: How do you partner with local schools?

A: At Edge Marsden, we partner closely with Marsden State School, welcoming prep and early intervention teachers to visit our kindergarten children in term 3 and term 4 to support each child’s smooth transition from kindergarten to prep. Teachers from Groves Christian College also visit, giving children a familiar face before they start school.

Q: Do you offer a holiday discount?

A: Yes! Edge Early Learning Marsden offers an annual holiday discount with 30% off* the daily fee for up to 4 weeks per year.

*The Edge Early Learning holiday discount entitles enrolled families to up to 4 weeks of holiday discount per year when the family provides a minimum two weeks’ notice in advance of the holiday. One week of holiday equates to the number of days in your child’s permanent weekly booking. Once your holiday discount is approved by your Centre Director, the Edge Centre Support Team will apply a 30% discount to the daily fee during the holiday period. Up to four weeks total holiday discount per enrolment per year.

Q: How do you communicate and partner with families?

A: At Edge Early Learning Marsden, families receive regular and meaningful updates via the Storypark parent app, centre newsletters, and face-to-face conversations about your child’s development. We value open, two-way communication and invite families to connect with our Centre Leadership Team and educators at a time that works for them, ensuring you stay informed and involved in your child’s learning. As an Edge family, you can expect to receive:

  • Weekly updates: Highlights of your child’s learning, program experiences, and classroom news delivered across the week.
  • Monthly updates: Individual learning snapshots on your child’s goals, progress, and special moments.
  • Twice yearly / Annual updates: A comprehensive summative assessment outlining your child’s development, a transition statement for kindy children heading to school, and a structured room transition process which includes family discussions to ensure every room transition feels supported and well planned.

We are proud to work alongside families, creating a supportive and connected learning experience that helps every child thrive. For more information, see the regular updates you can expect.

Q: How do you look after children's safety and wellbeing?

A: At our Marsden early learning centre, children’s safety and wellbeing is supported through strong daily practices, evidence-based programs, ongoing training, and strict adherence to national child safety standards and Edge child safeguarding policy and procedure.

We work closely with child safety organisations such as Life Ed and Bravehearts to strengthen personal safety education within our program. Our Kindergarten children participate in Life Ed’s Harold’s Little Learners program, building confidence, resilience, healthy habits, and personal safety skills such as understanding body boundaries, emotions, and social awareness.

At Edge Marsden, your child’s safety and wellbeing is more than just a policy, it’s part of everything we do. Our S.A.F.E. framework (Spot, Act, Fix, Explain) empowers educators to speak up if they see or suspect something isn’t right, fostering a culture of accountability and vigilance. Our Active Supervision policy supports staff to plan, position, look, and listen to ensure all children are continuously supported and monitored in a safe learning environment. In addition, all supervisory and senior staff complete ongoing Child Protection and Mandatory Reporting training to stay up to date on best practices.
