A: The first step is to tour your preferred Edge Early Learning and Kindergarten centre by booking a tour. This gives you an opportunity to meet our educators, explore our nurturing environment, and understand how we can provide an experience that is best suited to your child. After your tour, you’ll receive an enrolment form to secure a spot or join the waitlist.

A: We accept enrolments for future start dates at Edge Kelvin Grove, so whether you’re trying to enrol your child to start next month, or further down the track, we can assist you. Our Family Engagement Team can provide you with our current availability in each classroom, and help you join our waitlist if we don’t have a position for your child when you need it. A: The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is a federal government subsidy designed to help Australian families with the cost of approved childcare. The amount you receive depends on your family’s income, the type of care, and your recognised activity hours. Learn about CCS.

Applying for the Child Care Subsidy is simple; however, you should apply early to ensure you are ready to receive subsidised care in time for your child’s first day at Edge Kelvin Grove. To apply for the CCS:

• Set up a MyGov account (if you don’t have one already) and ensure you have a Customer Reference Number
• Set up your Centrelink online account through MyGov
• Prove your identity through documentation to be able to claim payments (you can do this online or in-person at Centrelink)
• Gather supporting documents including payslips, birth certificate, and medical records
• Submit supporting documents in your Centrelink online account or the express plus Centrelink mobile app. You can also mail, fax, or visit a service centre.
• Lodge your application via MyGov.
• Once this is lodged, Edge Early Learning, as your childcare provider, will input your enrolment details and lodge your application for you to get it fully processed.
• The Government will then notify you to confirm your subsidy eligibility and entitlement (how much they will subsidise off your childcare cost).

A: Our government‑approved Kindergarten program is delivered by a qualified Early Childhood Teacher and experienced educators to give children a confident start to school.

Eligible families can access Free Kindy funding (15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year)* at our centre to reduce out‑of‑pocket costs. Our centre team or Family Engagement Team, can help explain how Free Kindy funding from the QLD government can be applied on top of your existing Childcare Subsidy, to further reduce your out-of-pocket costs. At Edge Early Learning, our Kindergarten program runs year-round with extended hours to meet your family’s needs. Each child’s learning goals are personalised and tracked across the 11 Key Learning Areas to build school‑ready skills such as early literacy, numeracy, independence, self-help skills, emotional regulation, and social skills.

A: At Edge Early Learning Kelvin Grove, we aim to make life as easy as possible for you, so we supply most of the necessities including sustainable nappies, wipes, sunscreen, and nutritious meals (breakfast through to a late snack) to ensure your child is well-cared for throughout the day. However, there are a few items that you will need to bring to ensure your child has everything they need:

• Hat and drink bottle (supplied on enrolment)
• Spare clothes (3 sets)
• Bedding sheets for sleep time
• Any comfort items (dummies)
• Nappy cream (requires pharmacy label)
• Formula (pre-measured in dispenser) & baby bottles (pre-filled with water) / Breastmilk (clearly labelled)

A: We’re conveniently located on L’Estrange Terrace, opposite Kelvin Grove State College and a short walk to QUT Kelvin Grove campus. We’re also only a 10 minute drive to the Brisbane CBD. Plus, we offer on-site parking for added ease and accessibility.

Our location allows our Kindergarten children to visit the school’s library, playground, meet the Prep teachers and senior students to discuss school life, and so much more.

A: Yes! Your child will enjoy fresh, nutritious meals prepared daily by our on-site chef, using recipes developed in collaboration with accredited dietitians at The Biting Truth. Designed with growing bodies in mind, our seasonal 4-week rotating menus are designed to be age-appropriate and nutritionally balanced, aligning with the Australian Dietary Guidelines to support healthy growth and development. Featuring a variety of whole foods and culturally inspired dishes, meals can be tailored to suit individual tastes, dietary needs, and allergy requirements—ensuring every child receives nourishing meals each day.

A: At our Kelvin Grove daycare and Kindergarten, Bush kindy, sports, cooking and excursions are included in your daily fees, with no extra charges!

• Fortnightly Little Heroes Sports program on Thursdays
• Cooking lessons with our Chef in an industrial kitchen
• Bush Kindy with small groups of children in our on-site bush garden
• Excursions to Kelvin Grove State College Junior Campus for reading in the library, exploring the playgrounds, and meeting the Prep teachers.

Additionally, a professional hairdresser visits our centre each term to provide children’s haircuts (available at an extra cost). We also have allied health professionals visit including dental, which is bulk billed for eligible families.

A: Yes! Discover flexible childcare in Kelvin Grove with our annual holiday discount offering 30% off* the daily fee for up to 4 weeks per year.

Terms and Conditions apply: The Edge Early Learning holiday discount entitles enrolled families to up to 4 weeks of holiday discount per year when the family provides a minimum two weeks’ notice in advance of the holiday. One week of holiday equates to the number of days in your child’s permanent weekly booking. Once your holiday discount is approved by your Centre Director, the Edge Centre Support Team will apply a 30% discount to the daily fee during the holiday period. Up to four weeks total holiday discount per enrolment per year.

That’s why our Kelvin Grove childcare has an open-door policy, welcoming you to connect and collaborate with our educators and centre leadership team about your child’s growth, interests, and goals. At Edge, your child’s development is a shared journey, and we invite you to be involved through regular updates including:

• Weekly: Highlights of your child’s learning and classroom activities throughout the week.
• Monthly / Bi-monthly: Snapshot of your child’s goals, progress, and meaningful moments. Plus, a monthly centre newsletter with team updates and upcoming events.
• Twice yearly / Annual: A comprehensive summative assessment of your child’s progress over the prior six months, or a school transition report for kindergarten children preparing for school. We also involve families when it’s time for your child to transition to the next room, to support a smooth and confident transition.
• Upon Request: Face-to-face conversations about your child’s development.
