When you walk through the doors at Edge Early Learning and Kindy in Crestmead, you’ll feel the difference. There are content and engaged children, attentive educators, and a Crestmead community that genuinely values what families bring. But there’s no need to take our word for it, we’re proud to achieve a 100% satisfaction rate on our monthly family surveys*. Our families tell us they love that every educator knows their child by name, and how exciting the learning activities are. Not a Crestmead local? We regularly welcome families from Marsden, Park Ridge and Berrinba too.

Babies through to kindy ages all have a classroom to call their own at Edge Crestmead. Our educators bring our Teach A Rainbow education program, an Edge-exclusive approach, to life every day, building each child’s learning journey around what sparks their curiosity. We’re proud to offer the government-approved free kindergarten program, led by our degree-qualified early childhood teacher, giving your child the early education foundation they deserve. We focus on educating the ‘whole child’ which means offering much more than the early learning curriculum. Children at Edge Crestmead can enjoy yoga, cooking experiences and Bush Kindy at Crestmead State School.

Our classrooms benefit from an art atelier room where children participate in the creative arts, while strengthening their imagination, emotional intelligence and problem-solving. We’re for families too, and we aim to make busy family schedules that much more manageable with the little touches like a parents’ breakfast bar and on-site chef prepared breakfast for the children.

Our Pre-Kindy and Kindy yard features a unique glass viewing area overlooking Crestmead State School, so children can watch school events like Sports Day unfold in real time. It’s a thoughtful touch that builds excitment about the next step in their learning journey and strengthens ties with the local school community. When the time comes, our children head off to Crestmead State School, St Francis College, Berrinba East State School and Corymbia State School with a strong sense of self and the social skills we’ve been building together.

You’ll notice right away how seriously we take children’s wellbeing. Our safeguarding practices, frequent training and alignment with the national child safety principles mean every child here is known, protected and genuinely cared for. By the time your child heads off to school, we’ll have spent years helping them build the friendships, self-belief and everyday know-how that make those first days feel more familiar.

Curious about our Crestmead childcare? Come in for a visit and see why local families love our people and space.

Q: What is the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)?

A: The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is a federal government subsidy designed to help Australian families with the cost of approved childcare. The amount you receive depends on your family’s income, the type of care, and your recognised activity hours. Learn about CCS.

Q: How do I apply for the Childcare Subsidy (CCS)?

A: To apply for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) you’ll need to create a MyGov account, link your Centrelink account, and submit your application with supporting documents such as your child’s birth certificate. Applying for CCS is easy and it’s a good idea to apply early so you’re ready for your child’s first day at Edge Crestmead. Follow these steps to apply for the CCS:

  • Create a MyGov account (if you don’t have one) and get a Customer Reference Number (CRN)
  • Set up your Centrelink online account through MyGov
  • Prove who you are by showing documents, either online or in person at Centrelink, to be able to claim payments
  • Get your documents ready, like payslips, your child’s birth certificate, and any medical records
  • Submit your documents through your Centrelink online account or the Express Plus Centrelink app. You can also mail, fax, or go to a Centrelink service centre
  • Submit your CCS application via MyGov after uploading the required documents

Once this is lodged, Edge Early Learning will input your enrolment details and lodge your application for you to get it fully processed. The Government will then notify you to confirm your subsidy eligibility and entitlement (how much they will subsidise off your childcare cost). For more information on the application process, including how to do the childcare subsidy assessment, visit Services Australia website.

Q: How can I estimate my childcare fees?

A: You can use our easy Childcare Subsidy Calculator to get an estimate of your out-of-pocket fees for our centre. Simply input your details, and the calculator will provide an indication of your potential subsidy and fees.

Q: Do you offer Free Kindy?

A: Yes! Our Crestmead daycare and kindy offer a government‑approved Kindergarten program delivered by a qualified Early Childhood Teacher and experienced educators to give children a confident start to school.

Eligible families can access Free Kindy funding (15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year)* at our centre to reduce out‑of‑pocket costs. Our centre team or Family Engagement Team, can help explain how Free Kindy funding from the QLD government can be applied on top of your existing Childcare Subsidy, to further reduce your out-of-pocket costs. Find out more about Free Kindy.

At Edge Early Learning, our Kindergarten program runs year-round with extended hours to meet your family’s needs. Each child’s learning goals are personalised and tracked across the 11 Key Learning Areas to build school‑ready skills such as early literacy, numeracy, independence, self-help skills, emotional regulation, and social skills.

* Free Kindy subsidy totals 600 hours of subsidised Kindergarten per year.

Q: What’s the difference between Kindy at Edge Crestmead and community Kindergarten?

A: Edge Crestmead stands apart from stand-alone or community Kindergarten in four ways: our exclusive Teach A Rainbow education program, year-round extended hours, chef cooked meals, and the flexibility to combine Free Kindy with full daycare in a single setting.

Our Teach A Rainbow education program is unique to Edge Early Learning and is taught by a degree qualified Early Childhood Teacher across 11 Key Learning Areas, building school-ready skills including early literacy, numeracy, emotional regulation, and social skills.

Unlike community Kindergarten, our Childcare and Kindergarten are open all year (except public holidays), with long daycare session hours for families who need longer care each day. This means you don’t need to find alternative care for your child during the school holidays or outside of the 8:30am–4pm Kindy program each day.

Only want to attend our centre for Free Kindy across two days each week? That’s fine too! We offer a flexible 7.5 hour session for families who only want their child to participate in Free Kindy for the 7.5 hour days, two days each week.

We provide delicious chef cooked meals and also run a lunchbox program in term 4 to ensure children build essential skills for opening lunchboxes and zip lock bags in preparation for school.

We partner with local schools and the program meets both the Early Years Learning Framework (national curriculum) and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline, so the standard of education is identical to any community Kindergarten.

Q: What do I need to bring?

A: At Edge Early Learning Crestmead, we aim to make life as easy as possible for you, so we supply most of the necessities including sustainable nappies, wipes, sunscreen, and nutritious meals (breakfast through to a late snack) to ensure your child is well-cared for throughout the day. However, there are a few items that you will need to bring to ensure your child has everything they need:

  • Bedding sheets for sleep time
  • Any comfort items (dummies)
  • Nappy cream (requires pharmacy label)
  • Formula (pre-measured in dispenser) & baby bottles (pre-filled with water) / Breastmilk (clearly labelled)

A: We’re conveniently on Trulson Drive, next door to Crestmead State School where we hold our Bush Kindy program. Plus, we are just 2 minutes from the nearest bus stop and offer on-site parking for added ease and accessibility.

Q: Do you provide food?

A: Yes! Your child will enjoy fresh, nutritious meals prepared daily by our on-site cook, using recipes developed in collaboration with accredited dietitians at The Biting Truth. Designed with growing bodies in mind, our seasonal 4-week rotating menus are designed to be age-appropriate and nutritionally balanced, aligning with the Australian Dietary Guidelines to support healthy growth and development. Featuring a variety of whole foods and culturally inspired dishes, meals can be tailored to suit individual tastes, dietary needs, and allergy requirements to ensure every child receives nourishing meals each day.

Terms and Conditions apply. To access the discount, families need to provide a minimum two weeks’ notice in advance of the holiday. One week of holiday discount equates to the number of days in your child’s permanent weekly booking. Up to four weeks total holiday discount per enrolment per year.

Q: How do you communicate and partner with families?

A: At Edge Early Learning Crestmead, we communicate with families through the Storypark parent app and have an open-door policy, welcoming you to connect and collaborate with our educators and centre leadership team about your child’s growth, interests, and goals. A: At Edge Early Learning Crestmead, we are deeply committed to creating a safe, caring environment where every child’s wellbeing is always our top priority. • We proudly partner with trusted child safety organisations including Life Ed and Bravehearts to strengthen your child’s understanding of personal safety through expert-led education.
  • Our Kindy children enjoy exclusive year-long access to Life Ed’s Harold’s Little Learners program, which explores emotional resilience, body safety and how to enforce clear boundaries, healthy routines including how to stay safe online, and building confidence and independence ahead of school.
  • All supervisory and senior team members complete ongoing Child Protection and Mandatory Reporting training.
  • Our S.A.F.E. framework (Spot, Act, Fix, Explain) means educators are expected to speak up and take action if something doesn’t feel right. With S.A.F.E in place, we have created a culture of accountability and required reporting.
  • Our Active Supervision policy ensures all educators consistently Plan, Position, Look, and Listen to ensure safe learning environments at all times.
