Practising sustainability in a child’s early years empowers them to construct knowledge, explore values and develop an appreciation of the environment and its relationship to their world. Edge Early Learning focuses on teaching children about the importance of sustainability throughout all our early learning programs.
In the classroom, Edge Early Learning educators and team members understand we are responsible for what we throw away. We encourage children to do the same with recycling stations in each childcare centre to help children learn about the different types of recyclable waste. When outdoors we are conscious about our natural environment and enjoy learning about our native flora and fauna and how we can help to preserve the natural wonders of our land.
As a company, we are also conscious about our carbon footprint. We have installed solar panels at all greenfield centres and most original childcare centres have had solar panels installed to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, helping to generate clean energy and protect the environment for future generations.
On top of this, Edge Early Learning has introduced environmentally friendly cleaning products, biodegradable bamboo wipes, recycling stations and vegetable gardens in our childcare centres. This aims to create healthier environments and minimise waste whilst teaching children about the importance of sustainability and instil in them the importance of adopting environmentally friendly practices.
