Try before you buy, or just help them settle in.
Choosing a childcare centre for your child is one of the scariest decisions you will make as a parent. It is also one of the most beneficial things you can do for their development. That means it is worth giving the decision careful consideration and, above all, doing your research.
Start by reading about the philosophy of each centre on their website. Ask other families who go there about their experience. And talk with the staff, asking them how they will educate your child, what will happen if your child is sick, what their point of difference is and what you and your child should do to prepare for their first day.
At Edge Early Learning, families are always encouraged to take a tour before they decide to enrol. We also offer ‘Stay and Play’ so that parents can experience the centre environment alongside their child for a few hours, preferably on the days they will be likely to attend, so parents can better understand how their child will be spending their time.
You will also have the opportunity to meet the Educators who will interact with your child and influence their development. You can experience our educational programs first hand, sit in our family room and enjoy a coffee or speak to the Centre Director while your child enjoys their first play.
Stay and Play visits usually occur in the morning, where your child is welcome to have morning tea at the centre and begin getting used to socialising at our communal meal times. They will feel safe and secure knowing you are close by, giving them an important opportunity to establish trusting relationships with their Educators, setting them up for a successful transition to care.
