Welcoming our latest centre: Edge Early Learning Zillmere
06 July, 2021
Inspired by culture, community, and creativity, we have opened our latest centre in Brisbane’s North, Edge Early Learning Zillmere.
Committed to providing local families with a safe and inclusive environment that celebrates different cultures and teaches children about multicultural society, Zillmere opened on June 7 and operates Monday-Friday from 7.00am to 6.30pm.
With a custom-designed centre inspired by the suburb’s natural elements, Edge Early Learning Zillmere is a quality childcare and kindergarten, with programs tailored to children from 6 weeks to school age.
The state-of-the-art facility is nothing short of impressive, boasting everything from spacious indoor learning areas filled with modern learning resources to bike tracks, climbing forts, water play stations and quiet areas for the children to read and relax.
Zillmere is a beautiful, culturally diverse area, “In the lead up to Zillmere’s June 7 opening, we have been in close communication with members from the Department of Education, Council Libraries, and community and support groups, Save The Children and KU Inclusion, to deliver an inclusive space for children in Zillmere, inspired by three pillars: culture, community and creativity,” said Edge Early Learning’s Regional Manager, Peta Rix.
Physical representations of this vision have been brought to life in collaboration with local Brisbane Artist Carley Cornelissen, who has exclusively designed a four-piece collection for the Zillmere centre that incorporates native Australian animals and the word for “welcome”, “Wunya”, in the local indigenous Turrbal Peoples’ language.
“The collection is a wonderful acknowledgment of our area’s cultural diversity and also represents other languages from the incredible mix of local nationalities in the area including Filipino, Samoan, Punjabi, Hindi, Sudanese, Nepali, to name a few.”
The creatively driven centre will also be home to a piece by aboriginal artist Joe Malone, who Edge Early Learning engaged to create a traditional indigenous artwork for the main reception and family area of the centre.
Zillmere is not only a space to share Edge’s vision; the centre will also be implementing a tailored Active Early Learning curriculum and various parent partnership programs.
“We are passionate about developing quality early learning centres that not only give children access to state-of-the-art resources but also provide them with an enriching environment where they are encouraged to ask questions, explore new ideas and develop a love of learning through play, “ said Edge Early Learning Chief Executive Officer, Annie Bryce.
“We are excited to be creating a centre in the Zillmere community and look forward to sharing this space with local families.”
Conveniently located at 79 Murphy Rd Zillmere QLD 4034, the new centre will cater to working parents and families within the local community offering longer hours of care, from 7.00am to 6.30pm.
