Edge Early Learning Eagleby Wins Outstanding Early Childhood Centre Award

Edge Early Learning Eagleby has been named winner of the Outstanding Early Childhood Centre category at the 2026 Logan Region Local Business Awards. This achievement reflects the trust local families place in the centre every day.

This recognition belongs as much to the families and educators who make up its story as it does to the centre itself.

25+ years of trusted Eagleby Childcare

Edge Early Learning Eagleby has been caring for local children for more than 25 years, with Edge taking ownership of the centre five years ago. Rather than starting from scratch, Edge inherited a service with deep roots: long-standing families and dedicated educators who had already called the centre home for years.

Edge has honoured and built on that continuity of care ever since. Centre Director Samantha has led the team for almost four years, having spent 16 years working her way up through every level of early childhood education, starting as a centre cleaner. That journey shapes her hands-on approach and understanding of what it takes to run a centre that genuinely works for children, families and educators alike.

Families at the centre of everything

“We recognise that choosing an early learning service is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we strive to build genuine, trusting relationships with every child and family from their very first enquiry,” said Centre Director, Samantha.

Families of enrolled children describe educators who go above and beyond, follow up concerns straight away, and make them feel genuinely heard. It’s a big part of why the centre has earned more than 50 five-star Google reviews.

What makes Edge Eagleby daycare and Kindergarten different

Children take part in Māori culture and language sessions every Tuesday, Mini Monstars sport, dance and gymnastics on Wednesdays, and cooking lessons with their educators. They also learn through Edge’s exclusive Teach A Rainbow program, which supports social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.

Kindergarten children also join Healthy Harold’s Little Learners, delivered in partnership with Life Ed Queensland. The program is embedded into a full year of curriculum-aligned learning rather than a one-off visit. Across four terms, children build the skills that matter most in the lead-up to school, from understanding their emotions, body safety skills to forming healthy digital habits and feeling genuinely ready for school.

Families also have on-site access to allied health professionals, including dentists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists and child health nurses. Meals are freshly prepared each day by an on-site chef using locally sourced ingredients, and the centre includes sustainable nappies, wipes, sunscreen and insect repellent as standard inclusions.

Connected into the Eagleby community

“Supporting our local community is at the heart of our values, and we are committed to building meaningful partnerships that create positive outcomes for children, families, and the wider community,” said Centre Director, Samantha

The centre partners with Palm Lakes Eagleby, a local over 50s community group, to create intergenerational experiences between children and older community members. It also works with local Aboriginal Elders to help children learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, traditions and histories.

A community library encourages a love of reading, while a community pantry offers practical support to any family who needs a helping hand. Food scraps from the on-site kitchen go to a nearby farm run by the Dreyer family, among the original settlers of the Eagleby and Beenleigh area. It’s a small, local partnership that shows children the value of reducing waste close to home. The centre also proudly supports local emergency services and charities.

Strong ties with local schools

Sitting directly opposite Eagleby State School, the centre has built genuine ties with local schools. Prep teachers visit the day care centre to meet the children, and families are welcome at Kindy and school information sessions. Early childhood teachers stay connected through the local Early Years Network Meeting, and the centre works directly with schools’ early intervention teachers to support children who need extra support.

In the classroom, school uniforms feature in the dress-up area, helping children start picturing themselves as “big kids.” Every Term 4 the centre runs lunch box days so the children can practise essential school-readiness skills before their first day.

Looking ahead

Edge Eagleby’s stable, experienced team remains its greatest strength. Many of them are long-standing educators, and the centre is committed to investing in their growth and wellbeing as it looks to the future.

“We are also proud that we have not needed to rely on agency staff, ensuring children are cared for by familiar educators who know them well and understand their individual needs,” said Samantha.

Plans include deepening partnerships with local schools, health professionals, and community organisations, and continuing their sustainability focus, with children continuing to learn hands-on how to care for their environment. Above all, the goal stays the same: a place where children feel safe and valued, and families feel genuinely supported.

Eagleby’s win adds to a strong showing for Edge Early Learning across Logan, with Crestmead, Marsden and Waterford West also being named finalists. It follows Edge Edmonton’s win at the 2026 Cairns Local Business Awards, part of a strong year for Edge centres across Queensland.
