Five family-friendly vineyards to visit

09 June, 2022

Edge Early Learning
A day at your local vineyard isn’t just fun for adults – these family-friendly venues promise plenty of entertainment for your children, too. It’s the ultimate win-win. Whether you’re based in South Australia or Queensland, make note of these wineries for your next weekend adventure or family getaway.

Kimbolton Wines, South Australia

Located about one hour from Adelaide’s CBD, Kimbolton Wines offers tastings for adults and children alike (the latter is sans alcohol, of course!). Your children can taste their way through a cheese and cordial flight as they colour in on activity sheets, while you enjoy your own wine tasting and grown-up platter. The best part is, you can enjoy it all while overlooking the stunning views of Langhorne Creek.

Sirromet Winery, Queensland

Nestled in Mount Cotton – a relatively rural suburb on the outskirts of Brisbane – Sirromet is one of the most well-known wineries in South East Queensland, and not just for its delicious wine. It also hosts world-class concerts by the likes of Mariah Carey and Jimmy Barnes, as well as fun, child-friendly celebrations for special occasions like Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

Summit Estate, Queensland

The Granite Belt is known for its wineries, and Summit Estate – located just outside Stanthorpe – is one of the best. Not only does it boast an impressive array of tasty wines, but it also has plenty of child-friendly spaces to keep the children occupied. We’re talking bean bags by an indoor fireplace, large grassy areas and a spacious outdoor verandah (all within view of the cellar door tasting).

Barristers Block Wines, South Australia

With lots of open grass, a large sandpit, friendly farm animals and plenty of lawn games, Barristers Block is perfect for visitors both young and young at heart. It’s nestled in the picturesque Adelaide Hills, and they cut through the cold by serving up woodfired pizzas (with plenty of child-friendly toppings). Why not indulge a little bit further with a trip to Melbas Chocolate Factory on your way home?

Lychee Divine, Queensland

Love lychees? You’ll love Lychee Divine, a cellar door just outside Maryborough. It’s the retail outlet of a family-run farm (the farm itself is located 20-minutes away in Tiaro) which specialises in all things lychees – lychee wine, liqueur, condiments and even vinegars. Pay them a visit and watch your children run around on the grass while you nibble on a cheese platter.
