GOLD Coast hinterland writer, illustrator and book designer Christine Sharp is using her three decades of experience in the literary world to educate teachers in early learning centres on how to produce a children’s book.

But the twist is, the real authors will be the prep students themselves. Ms Sharp visited the Edge Early Learning Group at Pimpama where educators were given a masterclass on how to guide their students to write a children’s book in an interactive workshop.

Edge Early Learning Chief Executive Officer, Annie Bryce, said the completed story books would be unveiled and handed out at the Somerset Storyfest on March 20 to 22. The annual Storyfest nurtures emerging writers and provides opportunities for readers and writers alike to engage in all things literature.

The festival continues to attract large audiences with its offering of author sessions, workshops and seminars as well as meet-the-author events. Last year, ticket sales exceeded 21,000 and offered more than 50 schools, book lovers and emerging writing to immerse themselves into literature for the three day event.
